Hello..
Since my KD55XF displays strange behavior I've been searching for answers but without luck.
I primaly use my TV for gaming with my ps4 pro, so it's almost always set to game mode. I've noticed that when I first turn on the ps4 and the menu is shown, it shows really beautiful colors (blue background and game icons etc). Then I either start a game or sometimes launch Netflix, and every time I return to the ps4 menu I can see that it's like the colors is a little bit greyed out or not as alive anymore. This is where the question comes - why does it do that? I'm trying to get the best picture setup as I can, but I'm afraid of this color change affects the gaming as if I'm not getting the full potential of the screen?
I'm really lost in what to do to either solve or understand the changes of colors. I hope you guys here can help me, and please let me know if I'm not describing the problem clear enough. Best regards

Hi Luke,
So here's how it goes:
1-You switch on the PS4, the colour profile is the default one (no HDR in effect yet)
2- The menu looks normal (baby blue).
3-You launch a HDR game or program (HDR mode is on).
4-colours look normal as long as you're watching the HDR formatted content.
5-You press the PS button to go back home.
6-The screen is still in HDR mode, so the menu will look pale.
I've seen this effect on my phone which supports HDR when I go home while watching a HDR program on Netflix.
I hope this helps.

Hi Luke,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
I'm looking into this and will update the thread when I have an answer for you.
Best wishes,

Thank you so much Sean 👍
Hi @LukeFiinMayn,
So if I understand your post correctly, it is the menu which doesn't appear to display the correct colors. You don't mention which menu you refer to. The TV Home menu or the PS4 Home menu or even the particular Game menu?
It very well can be that you are playing HDR games in your PS4. HDR games require a different color profile to that of the standard TV menu or other TV apps like Netflix and YouTube. So when you exit an HDR game, the TV remains in the HDR color profile up until you start the playback of different content (digital broadcast/YouTube/Netflix) to switch color profiles again.
Let us know what are your findings.
Cheers,
Dutchice
Hi Luke
I completely agree with @dutchice on this one. It's pretty normal when playing HDR content.

Hey.
Thank you for the answer, it makes good sense already.
I'm referring to the menu of the ps4.
It was through the menu this change of color got to my notice. It suddenly hit me that the background was not as "baby blue" as it used to be, more greyish. I did a test which I will describe in the following:
I turn on the TV and ps4, the menu from the ps4 opens on the screen (everything looks fine), I launch a game or apps like Netflix or HBO, and every time I close or minimize either the game or app, I can see that the menu don't look as before. The blue color is greyed out. That's really wierd, I always keep the TV on game mode. And I use HDR I think in every game. I searched the whole internet and nothing came up, I figured that I was the only one having theese problems. I'm still not sure what it is even after your explanation. Maybe you can explain like I'm a kid again, thank you for the reply.

This is exactly what is happening. Thank you! So I'm actually not missing out on something and shouldn't try to change anything. This is just how it works then. Everybody, thank you for taking your time to help me 👍 now I'm not gonna get irritated about not knowing what is going on 😊 have a great day.
Best regards
Luke
