Purchased an Xperia XZ 3 months ago. Last week the protection on the top of the device slowly started to get loose. It is getting loose slightly more every day. Not only does it look cheap, it's probably also not very protective. I added a picture of this malfunction at the bottom.
Did not do anything strange with it. I have an office job and I do fitness. It just started to get loose without a reason, within 3 months after purchase.
To be honest, I do not expect I should pay for this kind of malfunction. On the website of my provider (Tele2) it is explicitly stated that damage on the outside of the device is not covered by the warranty. But does this also counts for this kind of malfunction? (I do not really see it as damage)
I could send it to the repair service, but then I'll lose my mobile for 5-10 days. On top of that, if the warranty does not cover the damage they will charge me 40 euro just for the inspectation and the actually cost to repair it will come on top of this. I called them to ask if the malfunction is covered by the warranty, but they told me they cannot give me any information: "I should send my mobile to them for inspectation" ...not really helpfull.
Thanks for the reply!
@dankon1 I see your issue as something covered by warranty but this is an user based forum. Please get in touch with your Local support. They will give you the right advice.
Hi @dankon1, i'm very sorry to hear this.
I'm afraid that the device needs to be examined by an authorised service center in order to determine if it is covered by our warranty or not.
The repair/warranty process can differ between different markets so I do recommend that you contact your Local support team for further assistance, as @YoGem also suggested.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this causes.
