Headphone Jack detection lost after a while

Hi

I just got my Sony Xperia XZ today, and it has exactly the same problem I had before with the Z3.

Please note that this is straight out of the box experience, I have installed only a few apps, such as Spotify and Twitter.

When I plug in my headphones (Audio Technica ATH-CKS55i) (they have a mic as well), they are properly detected by my phone. I then proceed to listen to something from Spotify, or Youtube, it doesnt really matter what, because even if I just leave them plugged in, without any sound or music playing at all, after a few moments (usually 10-20 seconds), the detection of the headphones are lost, and the music is either paused or plays through the speakers.

I have a few other phones I've used my headphones with, without any problems at all. Such as Samsung S7, Lumia 1520, Lumia 950 XL, Samsung Note 2, as well as my stationary computer with built in soundcard (realtek) and a Fujitsu LIFEBOOK NH532. Only the Xperia XZ(and my old Z3) has this issue.

Does anyone know of anything that might fix this problem? It has to be software, but what could it be, something built in to the Xperia line? Some setting I don't know about?

Would gladly appreciate some help as I've searched for hours upon hours for a solution to this problem with no avail.

Thanks for reading

Good news ! Seems this issue has been fixed by Sony with the latest maintenance update dated Oct 13. Try this out, my headset works perfect now with XZ.

I'm using bose qc20i for iPhone.

Things being too strange now, I used the headset without any issue for the whole afternoon today ! Now, I saw your post and then test it again, the headset works for 5 seconds and then music came out from the speaker again....

I didn't adjust any settings to the phone during this period, the only different thing is the battery level went down compare to the afternoon.

This is being annoying, Sony must fix it.

Guys i got a tip to force your device to recognize your headphones. While you are plugging them press five seconds your remote. You have to do this everytime you're plugging them.

Thank you, I got a email from Sony to share

Hello, thank you for your email.SONY Xperia XZ can support the wired headset with 3.5mm CTIA specification, the mobile phone's hardware configuration of sound is the same with Z5C.Because your headset is not SONY products, we are unable to test. There may be compatibility issues, it is recommended that you wait for the system update.

Best Regards,

Same here, only difference is that i use urbeats by dr dre.
They worked great on my z3 btw.

Got a little fix here, which is to download the soundabout app and force the phone to play the sound via the headphones jack.

It is quite laborious that way, but at least it somehow works...

Hi Nischi85 I wanted to help you clear out this issue. I have experienced this from my Z5 Premium Dual. The main issue here is that the headphone jack port itself gets loose, thats why it cannot detect the 3.5mm jack from headset.

For the first time that Ive sent my phone to the local repair shop, they've just adjusted and corrected the headphone jack port. So the phone was returned to me and worked fine. After 1 month again of using, the issue comes back. I've sent it again for repair and this time they replaced the headphone jack port itself.

There is a work around, wherein, you can just use the application soundabout in playstore. Actually, it is annoying from my side knowing that a premium flagship phone shouldn't be like this. Not to mention that I have to wait for weeks just to receive the repaired phone. That's the inconvenience that I suffered.

While the headphone jack is connected, press the lower front part of the phone under the headphone jack port and see if it detects the phone.

I hope this helps you to solve your issue. Might as well send it to the local repair shop.
