Battery drain with the smart cover?

Battery drain with the smart cover?

I've had a big battery drain with my XZ, 10 to 15% in the first two hours of the day after a full charge.

Now with the original smart cover removed the drain is 2%!!!!!

Also the power usage of the smart cover is not listed in the diagram.... could this be the battery problem with nougat?

Hi @revzracer,

It is possible. It could be that the sensors are not recognising when you have closed the device correctly and the screen may be on the whole time, for example. Try to re-pair the smart cover with your phone and see if it helps.

Thx for the reply, the sensors seem to work. Screen goes on and off with the opening and closing of the cover.

On 11th April I got an update, need to start from the beginning.... All seems better after the update..

@revzracer,

OK that's good to hear that the update seems to have helped. Please let us know if it happens again.

Unfortunately the solution was temporary. After the apps started updating the problem came back.

have now started with an clean install of the software......

@revzracer,

By a clean install, do you mean a software repair using Xperia Companion?

No... With the companion it would not install the software. Near the end I got the message that initialization could not be done du to an error.

Had to give the phone an factory reset.

@revzracer,

What was the error you get with Xperia Companion?

A factory reset will wipe out your data, but a software repair using Xperia Companion will completely re-install the firmware, so ideally it is best to do that.

Tried the companion several times with the same result.

There was no specific error number but an "error during initialization" message.

There was no other way to deal wilt my problems than the factory reset.

I'm currently setting all my apps up...

If Xperia companion is not working correctly there are a few steps that you can try to resolve this.

Try these methods one after the other. Verify after each method whether the problem was solved, before trying the next one.

  • Try different USB cables and a different USB port in your computer.
  • Make sure that you have a working Internet access. Visit any website, for example, www.sonymobile.com, to verify that the computer can access the Internet. If that is a problem, please check cable, router or the Internet service provider etc.
  • Check your firewall and make sure that Sony Ericsson Update Engine and Xperia Companion are allowed to access the Internet. For instructions, refer to the user guide for the firewall.
  • Check your proxy settings. If you are trying to update your device when connected to a corporate network, you might be using a proxy. Contact your network administrator for further assistance.
  • Check that Java is up to date on your computer. https://java.com/en/download/
  • Restart the computer and try again.
