seems you are correct regarding stock levels, hopefully, as P4ult212 is a Sony employee, he might be able to give you more info on when stock of the Sony Xperia Z SGP CV5 Protective covers will be available..

Yeah here we are nearly 2 months after the tablet went on sale and still no sign of any stock of the carry case or charging cradel anywhere in UK.

just checked & it would appear that the SGP CV5 Xperia Z carry case is available via the Sony Online Store

Although it seems that the SGP-DS5 Cradle is still shown as out of stock Sony Online Store
