I have a problem with a black screen and suspect the screen inverter is faulty ? can anyone point me to the location of this or supply a link to a service document ?. any assistance appreciated !!

You should get in touch with a Sony engineer.
Sony has a handy locator tool for service centres in the UK and Ireland which you can check.
