I have a KDL-32W705C TV, and am using the media player to play video files from both an DLNA server and a USB thumb drive. Some files play perfectly, but others cut out at around the 25 minute mark: playback stops, the screen goes black and eventually the player returns to the start of the file when I press play again. This also occurs when fast forwarding through the video: at around the 25 minute mark the fast forward stops and returns to 0:00:00.
These videos are in an MP4 container. The output of mediainfo is given below for one of the files:

Not all MP4 files with H264/AAC have this problem. I can transcode to VP8 and the files play OK, but am reluctant to do this as it increases the file size for the videos, and the DLNA server has slow enough throughput that there is occasionally buffering from VP8 encoded files with comparable quality to the original.
Is there any way to find out what is causing these errors? Perhaps a log file is stored somewhere? Given the age of the TV I'm not expecting Sony to release a fix, but I would like to find out what the problem is as it would help in finding a better workaround.
Hi there,
Have you updated to the latest firmware?
Best wishes,
M
Hi
The TV is currently on firmware version 3.006, which seems to be the latest version.
