Sony KDL-47W805A :I have a Sony kdl-47w805a which shows the following message when I try to open iPlayer
"tv internet download failed because content size exceed system memory limit."
Can I clear or increase the memory or can I not get iPlayer anymore ?
What does it actually mean ?
My tv is only 3 years old.
Thanks

permanent fix because the problem seems to be the TV's 'memory'. If you
have Amazon firestick you can use this to bye-pass the TV's inadequate and
its dodgy memory.
Sony are obviously content to do nothing although why beats me given the
unfavourable publicity this is generating.

@jimtyro - interesting that you say a factory reset temporarily works. Can you estimate how long or how many shows etc that this temp fix works? Also what model TV do you have:? Thanks

Hi
I am afraid I can't. I bought the TV from John Lewis and it was their complaints team who talked me through the process. It has worked well since but I also use Amazon fire to connect and that means I have not used the usual iPlayer logon frequently. I was told by JL that the Bravia range all seem to suffer from low capacity memories so its only a matter of time before they fail, whatever vintage you have. Pity, they otherwise good TVs but my next one will not be a Sony set unless I have very good evidence that they have sddressed this problem.

Wednesday 23rd August 2017; System memory limit message has come up on screen when streaming BBC iPlayer
Is this problem in the process of being rectified as I note that it has happened before and has been quickly resolved?

Strangely this is the first time we have encountered this problem when
using the BBC iPlayer having owned our television for just over
3 years now. It obviously is resolvable because other communications via
Sony evidence this in the past.

yet. There is no long term solution except work around either by doing a
factory reset every so often or using an alternative browser such as
firestick.
Shame because its otherwise a very good TV. Sony seem to be utterly
unconcerned about it which I find odd.
