Front camera not available
I'm currently using Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual. After I updated my software from 5.0 to 5.1, my front camera is no longer available. It says "Camera not available. Flashlight or Camera may be in use by another application. Close it and try again". I've tried many methods already including factory reset.

It's not odd. It's unbelievable, all C5 works except one and to wait a software update to see if it fix the problem sounds like fiction. If camera is not working the problem could be software or hardware, if after a repair the camera still don't work, Sony should take the device and check for hardware failure and not just tell to wait a software update. I am not sure what kind of inspection they performed but I'll call Sony support again to ask for clarification.
Note: it may be a "firmware" issue but if that was the case Sony would have been flashing a new firmware rather than telling the customer to wait a software update that may not fix the issue because not all the software update come with firmware update. Usually after a software update what may be update in terms of firmware is the baseband, not the camera.

Sorry for the late response. There is no official Sony service center in Brunei. The nearest is in Singapore. Fyi, my warranty is now void due to update problem, which includes camera failure. It would cost me lots of money to fix my phone if it is due to hardware problem. Can downgrading my C5 fix the problem? Should I try? Its been a month without the front camera

Wait, say what???? Warranty void because of update??? Who said that???
Downgrading could and may not fix the issue, if it's software it may fix it if it's not then you'll need to buy a new phone but first investigate better the status of your warranty. I never heard that a software update void warranty.

I am having the same issue with the front camera on my C5 ultra . Shortly after the update, it just stopped working. The icon to switch between the two cameras is gone. Tried all the potential quick fixes, and then the factory reset. I've had this phone about a month. This is very disappointing, never had issues with any other of my Sony devices. Has anyone fixed this yet???? Not good Sony =(

Just to clarify, that sounds like it's both cases, hardware and software issue. If the button to switch camera is not visible means that for the app the camera don't even exist. If it's software a software repair via PCC could fix the issue however the factory reset may not fix it. You have to be sure to not mistake factory reset and software repair.

Yup, that's right. Warranty void if it is caused by update. You should ask Dee Jay Enterprise for more info. Message them at Facebook if you want to make sure. It seems I'm not the only one. Sony should do something about this. Btw YoGem, buy a new phone?? I can't even sell this phone without its front camera.

IzzatW, you should contact Sony, it's absolutely impossible that the warranty is void due software update.
