File system problems after android upgrade to v6.7140

After updating (manually by USB) the KD-55XF9005 started having tremendous issues with file system.

  1. May need a reset to see the USB stick and the HDD that seems empty of content
  2. PVR may randomly decide that it cannot record on the HDD that has 2.5GB free! After taking out and reconnecting, this persists. Needs a reset and then is fine for a few hours!
  3. Media player may not show the content of USB stick (even after some time passes)
  4. At same time KODI will show both volumes (USB and HDD) with 16 character hexadecimal Labels!
  5. Sometimes KODI may show up to 5-6 volumes with hexadecimal labels, but once you spot the USB stick, it plays the titles!

PLEASE FIX THAT. It was perfectly ok before!

Generally, if Sony sees that:

Put a roll back function for the updates. Using local storage (i.e. a USB stick) it's extremely easy. Otherwise updating is a leap of faith. And once you get a version without glitches, should hold on to that indefinitely!

Hi,

Did you perform a factory reset after the update?

Often this helps to solve such issues if they occur after an update.

Cheers

You can also try clearing the cache (under Device Preferences - Storage - Internal Shared Storage - Cached data) and restarting before the factory reset.

Ok thank you both for the promising alternatives.

Will try cache and if not factory reset.

The latter will probably mean doing a lot of things all over.

Will revert.

UPDATE:

Trying to avoid a full factory reset - which I am not sure will eventually be avoided - did the following:

Clearing cache and reset did not help

So, what helped:

  • Take USB stick and HDD out
  • Clear cahce
  • Reset
  • Wait till TV is back on
  • Connect HDD

After that, the TV would see HDD contents properly every time.

And KODI would show under Video, only one disk (even with this 16 digits Hex name...?).

Worked ok for a few days.

Then connected back USB, that previously I had deleted partitions and reformatted.

Next day, again the same. No content in HDD, KODI finds many Hex Disks...!

So, did the process all over again, to see if USB is to blame. Probably an OS thing and I 'll eventually have to factory reset. Or use the media server, instead of USB.

All the above for anyone having the same issues.

Will update again.
