3 years ago we brought this tele, and over the last 6 weeks it was been crashing and re-booting. When it first started it was every couple of hours it then got progressively worse we lost the home screen and now the tele won't even turn on it just flashes the red led at the bottom of the screen.

I did my reserach to be told by 2 independant companies that the fault lies with the motherboard and that will need to be replaced, both these companes also adviced me it is a common fault with this tele,Sony are aware of it but are will not do anything about it (They werent joking!!!!)

I called Sony to make a complaint as I think it is disgusting that we can spend £1000 on a tele from a so called reputable make that has lasted 3 years!!! (This is something I would expect of an Adsa smart price tele)

The guy I spoke to at technical support sent me an email with some steps to follow, after me spending atleast 10 minutes on the phone explaining that the tele will not turn on and I have no home page. Only for me to get off the phone and read the email to find that all 3 exercise's needed the tele to be a working order to perform!!!! 2 days later I was advised that the tele had a 5 year guarantee (abit of my fault there as I should have looked for the receipt myself however 3 years later and a house move and assuming the tele wouldnt be guaranteed for that long) I managed to find the receipt with the additional receipt for the 5 years guarantee which I sent to Sony as requested with my address and picture of the rear of tele showing serial numbers etc.

Speaking to Sony again after this, 3 weeks on from not having a working tele they are now saying that the new tele (which is more than likely going to be a refurbmishment) will only have the remaining guarnatee of 2 years from the current 5 years on the current absolute useless piece of junk sitting in my lounge!!!!

I do not feel this is acceptable as the current tv has lasted just over 3 years.... we are a working family therefore the majority of the time the tele is not on, it doesnt get used that much as we work full time, its amaculate and well looked after. I feel like Sony are taking no responsibility for the fact that this tele mshould have been recalled at the start, and why should it be replaced with a refurb (Ive had experience with refurb phones usually crashing all the time ) Ive requested that Sony put a 5 year guarantee on the new tele however they are tellig me they wont do this and are acting like they are doing me a favour by replacing it.... No the current tele is not repairable I have been told this already by Sony... I have paid for this guarantee within the price of the tele.... Sony wont put the 5 years guarantee on it because they know it wont last over 5 years!!!! I will never buy another Sony product again, absolutely disgusted with the way I have been treated.... Over something which I did not cause... Sony producing cheap products and charging the earth for them!!!!!

This is the way warranty works all over the world, it did not get extended by a substitution. Why don't you feel just lucky and proud that you signed for the extension at the time and didn't have to buy the tv again?

Me too, I have the same problem. This model has fault by manufacturer. Sony should responsibility for that.
I sent them emails and got answer that: my TV is runned out of warranty, therefore I have to bring to repair center. And then , got the result from them that main board is not working, and they also do not have replacement, and it may cost around 400 to replace

I love Sony products since my childhood, bought a lot of devices from Sony. But this is very disappointed. Sony is not longer reliable brand anymore. Their after sale service is very bad.

The two most expensive parts of a TV are the screen and the logic/main board, that's just a fact of how TVs are made and how they work.

I agree with the spare parts issue, but it might be due to the TV being too old (which basically means that these parts are not being made anymore and newer ones are being manufactured).

Hope this helps!
