Upgrading Hard Disc Storage Space

Hello all, back again. Some of you may remember me back in the day.

I’ve just popped on to ask if my VAIO PCV-RS502 could handle anther 160GB hard drive. I’ve recently come across this special deal in pc world’s website. I really want to get it for my WWE videos and music.

Once I’ve installed the drive, do I need to configure anything on the pc? Or would it just show up as another drive in “My Computer”?

As long as,

a) you have a spare IDE
b) it supports > 132GB in the BIOS

then you should be fine.

As for the hard disk you'll have to right click my computer and go to manage. There go to disk management and right click your new drive and enable. Give it a drive letter than format as you want.

Yeah I do have a spare IDE and Power Connector.

How do I find out if my bios can support anthoer 160GB?

Everest Home Edition (although now discontinued) can tell you this.

What size is the other drive in there?

I’ve been getting on fine thank you. Yeah I still stream just not often now. I’ve been busy with my new site that’s opening soon.

I really appreciate your help, just that I had this VAIO for a year now. It’s been running like a dream 24/7 without any hardware problems at all. A fantastic VAIO computer, you can’t go wrong with them.

I thought I’d give it an upgrade now. Getting there slowly.

The drive I have in the computer is a 160GB (7200RPM) hard drive. Just over the months the drive has got full with media. Just thought I’ll stick anther 160 to last another year or two.

Is there any other way that I can find out how much the BIOS can take?

That should be fine then, I was just wondering in case you had < 132GB in already.

There should be no problems.

Thank you ever so much for getting back to me. I have 320GB of storge now.

I've found out that my VAIO can read upto 600GB of storage. So that ant bad.
