Vaio SVS1313P9EB Win10 battery problem

My VAIO laptop battery says it charges to 100% but once unplugged, it only lasts about 40mins before shutting down abruptly despite the battery meter saying it is about 50% charged just before it switches itself off. When I plug in the charger again, the battery meter says it is 0% and charges back up to 100%. But then lasts about 40mins again.
