I HAVE JUST REPLACED MY OLD ONKYO RECEIVER WITH A DENON 2600. I HAVE TRIED TO CONNECT MY SONY PS-HX500 TURNTABLE TO THE PHONO SOCKETS BUT THE SOUND IS SO DISTORTED AND NOISY. I SEE THE AMP IS COMPATIBLE WITH A MM(MOVING MAGNET) CARTRIDGE, BUT I THINK I HAVE A MOVING COIL CARTRIDGE. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I CAN GET A MM CARTRIDGE FOR THE HX500. THANKS.

Welcome to the Sony Community.

This PS-HX500 unit is tuned according to the originally installed cartridge, and replacing with other types of cartridges is not supported.

Of course you can change the cartdridge lol Who told you that???

BUT you have to select one with the same output and to know how to set alignement for the new one.
