Hi,

Did you resolve your issue or had returned the headphones? Mine is having volume, but hiss sound when NC mode is on, although it seems to go away while playing music, But I suspect the music just overrides the noise.

Regards,

Sparkle

Hissing is normal when NC is On with nothing playing or in a quiet environment. It's generally recommended to turn NC Off when there is no noise to be cancelled. If you are still hearing a hiss while NC is Off, then you might be facing an issue with the headphones.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I am really appreciated your explanation. However, comparing to my wf-1000xm3 pair, in which togged NC mode doesn't create any white noise, maybe because of the newer NC Chip processor? ( better software too, I doubt). What do you think? I know 2015-2020 is a big gap of technological advances.

Better processor and mics will definitely make a difference, since all NC circuits generate noise because they all operate the same way on some level.

A signal is produced to cancel out the noise, If the noise is abnormal or there is no noise, you can hear the result of the generated signal.

This is why it's generally recommended that NC is turned off when there's no noise around you or it's too quiet for the mics to pick up (source of noise is far away for example).
