No bluetooth capability on a flagship tv

Totally disillusioned with the fact that after spending £2000 in December 2014 on a flagship model KD-55X9005B I can't get it to set up bluetooth devices unless a seperate TX/RX portable unit is plugged into a usb slot. It beggars belief that Sony would release a massively technical unit with early 4K and build in speakers, bells and whistles and then decide not ot build in Bluetooth connectivity. There are loads of cheap electronic devices out there that can do this. iIjust paid £180 for truly wireless ear buds and find that I can't connect them to my TV, and will have to revert to the ancient practice of running a cable across the carpet and hard wire the headset. Simply not good enough. I have been a Sony devotee for 50 years now but have never been so disappointed with a unit at this price break.

I'm sorry if you are frustrated but your tv was a flagship some 4 years ago and never advertized as supporting bluetooth audio devices. Actual Sony flagship as my own KD55A1E now support them.

It is as if I start complaining why my flagship tv does not support HDMI 2.1

You could, but we are just now rewatching Spiral Series 1.

Laure has a Bluetooth headset, so Bluetooth was alive and well back then, while HDMI 2.1 postdates 2014.

And ‘back then’ was 2005, some nine years before any 2014 TV, flagship or not.

I appreciate the opinion but my point is this: Bluetooth was around well before 2014 and at a £2000 price point I feel it should have been automatically included with my set

I realise that this is frustrating, however, it boils down to the simple fact that the TV was never advertised to have Bluetooth functionality by Sony.

I'd also like to point out that even today, Bluetooth isn't perfect (especially with audio/video sync) so BT may have been a popular standard back then, but I don't think it was anywhere near ready to by fully featured in a TV back then. It's still possible to go out and spend a sizable amount of money on a 2018/19 TV and it's highly possible that it will lack Bluetooth support.
